Disney Halloween Music: The Spookiest Songs and Park Sounds for October

Disney Halloween Music blog post from Magic of the Mouse Radio featuring spooky songs, Halloween park sounds, pumpkins, music, and October fun.

When the leaves start falling and the pumpkins come out, Disney fans everywhere start searching for the same thing: Disney Halloween music. There’s something special about the way Disney does spooky. It’s never too scary, it’s always a little silly, and it’s packed with songs that families have been singing along to for generations.

Whether you’re decorating the house, hosting a party, or planning a trip to one of the Disney parks’ Halloween celebrations, here’s a guide to the best Disney Halloween music and where you can hear it this fall.

Classic Disney Halloween Songs Everyone Knows

Some Disney songs have become Halloween traditions all on their own. These are the ones that show up on almost every family’s October playlist.

  • “Grim Grinning Ghosts” – The theme of the Haunted Mansion is probably the most famous Disney Halloween song of all time.
  • “This Is Halloween” – From The Nightmare Before Christmas, this song is practically the official anthem of the season.
  • “The Headless Horseman” – Sung by Bing Crosby in The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, this 1949 classic is a fun, toe-tapping ghost story.
  • “Trick or Treat” – The catchy song from the 1952 Donald Duck cartoon of the same name is a hidden gem many fans don’t know.
  • “I Put a Spell on You” – The Sanderson sisters’ big number from Hocus Pocus has become a Halloween party favorite.

Disney Villain Songs for a Spooky Mood

Halloween is the perfect time to celebrate Disney’s greatest villains. Their songs are dramatic, sneaky, and a lot of fun to sing along with.

  • “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid
  • “Be Prepared” from The Lion King
  • “Friends on the Other Side” from The Princess and the Frog
  • “Mother Knows Best” from Tangled
  • “Hellfire” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame

A villain-themed playlist is a great choice for a Halloween party, especially if guests are dressing up as their favorite bad guys.

Spooky Orchestral Music from Disney Classics

Not all Disney Halloween music has words. The “Night on Bald Mountain” segment of Fantasia is one of the darkest and most dramatic pieces Disney ever animated, set to Modest Mussorgsky’s famous music. It flows straight into the calm and beautiful “Ave Maria,” which makes the pair a wonderful listening experience.

Movie scores are great background music, too. The soundtrack from Coco, with its celebration of Día de los Muertos, brings a warm and colorful side to the season that’s all about remembering family.

Disney Halloween Celebrations Around the World in 2026

The best place to hear Disney Halloween music is at the parks themselves, where every celebration comes with its own spooky soundtrack. Here’s what’s happening this fall.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – Walt Disney World

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes over Magic Kingdom from 7:00 PM to midnight on select nights through October 31, 2026. It’s a separately ticketed event, and party guests can enter the park as early as 4:00 PM.

The music is a big part of the fun. Highlights include:

Halloween Time and Oogie Boogie Bash – Disneyland Resort

On the West Coast, Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort runs August 21 through October 31, 2026, and it’s included with regular park admission. Expect Halloween décor, themed versions of favorite attractions and seasonal entertainment. Next door at Disney California Adventure, Plaza de la Familia celebrates Día de los Muertos through November 2.

For an extra-special night, Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party runs on 33 select nights at Disney California Adventure from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. New this year is “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party,” a musical celebration inspired by the Haunted Mansion’s famous fortune teller. Guests can also visit the Villains Grove and walk the treat trails.

Disney Halloween Festival – Disneyland Paris

Across the ocean, the Disney Halloween Festival at Disneyland Paris runs from September 26 to November 1, 2026, and the entertainment is included with park admission.

Music fans have something special to look forward to this year: Main Street, U.S.A. gets new Halloween decorations along with an all-new original musical score. The Mickey’s Halloween Celebration cavalcade returns with Mickey and friends riding autumn-themed floats, and Disney Villains will be roaming the park.

Don’t miss Phantom Manor, Disneyland Paris’s darker version of the Haunted Mansion. Its haunting musical score and French narration make it one of the most atmospheric attractions in any Disney park. On Halloween night, October 31, the park stays open late and guests of all ages can visit in costume.

Spooky Sounds You Can Hear All Year

Some Disney attractions deliver Halloween-style music every single day of the year:

  • The Haunted Mansion – Organ music, ghostly narration and “Grim Grinning Ghosts” make it the king of spooky Disney audio.
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – The lobby music, full of old-time jazz, creates a creepy “abandoned hotel” feeling before guests ever step on the ride.
  • Phantom Manor – A Wild West ghost story with one of the most beautiful and eerie scores Disney has created.

How to Make Your Own Disney Halloween Playlist

If you’re building a playlist for a party or a spooky night in, here are a few tips:

  1. Mix songs and sounds. Combine singalong favorites with park audio and orchestral music so the mood changes throughout the night.
  2. Know your audience. For young kids, stick with silly songs like “Trick or Treat” and “Grim Grinning Ghosts.” Older kids and adults may enjoy the darker villain songs and Fantasia pieces.
  3. Start calm and build up. Begin with atmospheric music and save the big singalongs for when the party is in full swing.
  4. End gently. A calm song at the end of the night helps little ones wind down after all the excitement.
